The 6th Annual Ben’s Chili Bowl’s World Chili Eating Championship

At The Taste of DC* – #1 PRO EATER JOEY CHESTNUT IS BACK!

Ben’s Chili Bowl, known as the Home of the Original Half Smoke for over 58 years, has now also become known for the famous World Chili Eating Championship. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, October 8th.

Military Eating Contest:  This is one of the ways Ben’s is honored to show appreciation to all military personnel.  This fun event always brings out the competitive spirit between the different branches of our armed forces.

Professional Eating Contest:  Now in it’s 6th year, we are excited to announce that defending champ Joey Chestnut, ranked the world’s #1 professional eater, is back in DC to defend his title!  He will be challenged by some of the top professional eaters: Carmen Cincotti, Yasir Salem, Juliet Lee, Eric Booker, Brian Dudzinsky and more.

*Meet the Champ:  On Friday, October 7th at 2PM you can meet defending champion Joey Chestnut in person when he visits the historic Ben’s Chili Bowl on U Street!
